Spotify will allow employees to work from almost anywhere

The shift to working from home amid the COVID-19 pandemic will be temporary for many businesses, but like Twitter, Facebook, and Microsoft, it appears Spotify is embracing remote working in the long run. It announced a Work From Anywhere program, which will allow employees to be anywhere they want.

Much of this will depend on employees to venture into an office once it is safe again or to work primarily from home (or pretty much anywhere with a decent internet connection). If they choose a location where there is no nearby Spotify office, the company will set them up with a workspace subscription. Spotify called the movement "a new way of collaborating that allows Spotifiers to work where they think and believe best."

Once the program launches this summer, employees will need to speak with their manager and team to determine how often, if at all, they will visit the office. However, there will be some location limits based on time zone requirements and "regional entity laws."

Spotify is aligning itself with other major tech companies by embracing a remote work culture. Salesforce just made a similar announcement. This will allow for more flexibility in terms of hours and will allow most employees to work from home for at least part of the week.
